Barrelheads Field Training
From lesson to barrel.
Drunken Monk teaches the flavor. Arizona Barrelheads shows what happens when a pick team finds that flavor inside one distinctive barrel.
The handoff
Education without the sales pitch.
Field Training does not copy the Barrelheads release catalog. It translates selected picks into the same language used by the flavor wheel.
Each lesson identifies the dominant family, the main note, the supporting notes, and the contrast that makes the barrel unusual. Availability, release details, and community participation stay on the official Barrelheads site.

How picks enter the wheel
A barrel has to earn its spot.
A pick is mapped only when its target note is clear enough for a developing drinker to find. Interesting whiskey is not automatically educational whiskey.
- 1 · Taste
- Evaluate the barrel without forcing it into a predetermined category.
- 2 · Map
- Assign one main note, up to three back notes, and one useful contrast.
- 3 · Validate
- Test whether newer drinkers can identify the intended note with guidance.
- 4 · Publish
- Connect the Drunken Monk lesson to the official Barrelheads release page.
Drunken Monk provides independent educational content. Release availability and purchase information are handled by Arizona Barrelheads and its retail partners. Any material relationship or supplied bottle will be disclosed on the relevant lesson.
